FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT RELIGIOUS SCHOOL
Who is eligible to attend? Any child whose family belongs to either Temple Beth-El or Temple Beth Am. For membership information contact, Temple Beth-El, 201-333-4229 or Temple Beth Am, 201-858-2020.
When do the classes meet? The Religious School classes for grades K – 7 meet on Sunday morning from 9:30 am – 12 noon, September through May.
Teachers include our Rabbi, Student Cantor Stefanie Greene, Kay Magilavy, Mazie Ferreira-da Silva, Hara Benjamin-Garritano, Brenda Eagle, Ivy Epstein-Barile, Yona Adika and Nate Wild with several teacher assistants and teen aides.
Where do the classes meet? The classes meet at Temple Beth-El which is located at 2419 JF Kennedy Blvd., Jersey City, between Bentley Ave. and Harrison Avenue (one block from Communipaw).
What is taught? The curriculum includes Jewish history, holidays, ethics & Jewish values, the Torah, as well as Hebrew reading skills and prayer. Family Education programs are also offered throughout the year.
What is the role of the parent? Materials are sent home, which will enable parents to reinforce what is taught in the classroom, and particularly to coach their children with Hebrew basics. We also ask parents’ participation in our Family Education programs and Family Services.
|When is registration? Students normally register over the summer for September, but are welcome to join the program at any time during the year.
