On Monday, December 30, 2019 and again on Monday, January 6, 2020 at 4:15 Temple Beth-El will be among the helpers at the HUC Soup Kitchen at the Reform movement’s Seminary, Hebrew Union College, in Manhattan.

Every Monday night, for 30+ years, the college has served dinner and hospitality to homeless and food insecure people in their neighborhood.  The program is run entirely by student rabbis and cantors, who will welcome our group and set the context for this mitzvah within Jewish values. It is a marvelous opportunity to benchmark a successful program for helping neighbors in need and to meet some of the future clergy of our movement.

Our commitment is 5-10 helpers.  We could use more volunteers.  Please contact to let her know if you can help by joining this team.  (If transportation is an issue, let her know. )

EVEN IF YOU CANNOT COME THIS TIME, you can help by bringing to Religious School in coming weeks: travel sized toiletries – deodorant, toothpaste, lotion, hand sanitizers or wipes, toothbrushes, toothbrush covers, shampoo, liquid soap, shaving supplies, brushes and combs, etc.  Also very welcome are NEW men’s and women’s socks (crew height), underwear, T-shirts.  Used (and usable) outerwear, like jackets, coats and sweaters go fast, too.  Adult sizes only please.
