Religious School

Shalom from our Religious School Family!

The Beth-El Religious School is an engaging, dynamic part of our warm, caring, people-oriented and accepting congregation. Led by a fantastic team of professionals, our school strives for a small student-to-teacher ratio, differentiated learning, and many extra-curricular activities, designed to prepare our children to be Jewish adults filled with a love and pride of being Jewish, and to strengthen and inform the role they play in the broader community.

Students learn the history, values and language of the Jewish people while building a strong Jewish community within the school.  Religious school meets on Sunday mornings from 9:30am – 12noon. Each week, all grades participate together for Community Time with Rabbi Moritt, and each grade has either art or music every Sunday.

Our religious school’s Family Education program is designed to support and enhance each family’s Jewish knowledge and practice as well as build community among our families. Parents join their children for Sunday morning religious school several times each year to enjoy a special program led by teachers and clergy.

Our First Friday Shabbat celebrations begin with a family-friendly service at 6:30pm followed by a special oneg honoring the children and provide a warm and welcoming way for our Religious School families to celebrate Shabbat and build community.

Our strengths include:

  • High quality Jewish literacy and history
  • Teaching through music and creative arts
  • Family Learning Days
  • Preparation for leading Bar/Bat Mitzvah service
  • Junior and Senior Youth Groups
  • High school students as “madrichim” teacher assistants
  • Special Education modifications

Our Faculty Team includes seven teachers, Rabbi Moritt, and Cantor/Director of Education Laura Breznick.

Cantor Breznick can be reached through her email, cantorbreznick@betheljc.org.
